Our Commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)
Environment, people, governance: three dimensions we use to measure the value and impact of what we do every day.

ESG isn't a requirement. It's a way of being in the world.
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance: three dimensions through which an organization measures and reports on its impact on the environment, on people, and on the quality of its internal governance.
It is neither a regulatory requirement nor a public relations exercise: it is the most honest way to ask ourselves whether what we do every day creates value or diminishes it—not only in economic terms, but also in terms of the well-being of the local community, the dignity of our relationships, and the soundness of our decisions.
For a healthcare company like Toscana Diagnostica, ESG commitment is not an optional choice.
Why ESG in Healthcare
We cannot care for people’s health while at the same time ignoring the health of the environment in which they live.
We cannot ask patients to trust us without offering transparency in our governance. We cannot talk about community engagement without taking concrete responsibility toward the communities that host us.
Healthcare is a high-impact activity: it consumes energy, generates hazardous waste, uses chemical reagents, and transports biological samples throughout the region. Every day, in every facility in our network, our operational decisions have an impact. The question is not whether this impact exists, but whether we manage it consciously or ignore it for the sake of convenience.
We have chosen to manage it: through documented practices, measurable indicators, widespread training, and the conviction that every daily action counts.
For Toscana Diagnostica, committing to sustainability also means building a more solid and credible organization over time. Investors seek responsible projects. Institutions reward reliable providers. Patients trust those who demonstrate consistency between what they say and what they do. The best professionals want to work in organizations that have values, not just goals.

The Three Pillars
Our Commitment
The environment in which we work is the same one in which our patients live.
We operate in a resource-intensive industry. We manage this impact with discipline, through a structured system of best practices that is verified through periodic audits.
Energy Efficiency
Protocols for managing HVAC, lighting, and equipment in each facility, with defined thresholds and scheduled shutdowns.
Waste Management
Strict classification by risk category, complete traceability, separate collection at designated recycling stations, and a gradual reduction in single-use items.
Water and Materials
Use reagents only in the quantities strictly necessary; report leaks promptly; and give preference to reusable materials whenever possible.
Digitization
Digital reports by default, digital internal communication, and double-sided printing only when necessary.
Low-Impact Logistics
Optimization of sample collection routes, reusable containers, and ongoing evaluation of low-emission vehicles.
Continuous monitoring
Specific environmental indicators that are monitored periodically and reported during the Management Review.
Integrated Management System
A Single Framework: Quality, Environment, Safety
We have implemented an Integrated Management System based on the principles of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards, which integrates quality, environment, and safety into a single, coherent framework.
Environmental best practices, operating procedures, system documents, and performance indicators are managed within the digital document management system, accessible to all staff and subject to review at least once a year. This is not a system that gathers dust on a shelf—it is the connective tissue that holds clinical quality, environmental responsibility, and personal safety together.

Learn more about our commitment
We do not view sustainability as a destination, but as a journey. Each year, we set measurable improvement goals in each of the three ESG dimensions, monitor them using specific indicators, and report on them transparently. We believe that a healthcare company has a responsibility that extends beyond its operational scope. People’s health also depends on the health of the environment, the quality of social relationships, and the integrity with which an organization is governed.
